Rene van der Voort

René van der Voort joined IRI’s Roosendaal office in November 2015 as Safety & Technical Manager, Yachts and was promoted to Senior Safety Manager, Yachts in February 2021. He is responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of yachts from a technical and marine safety perspective, including those yachts under construction or undergoing a re-fit. Prior to joining IRI, he worked as a certified teacher and instructor at a training center in the Netherlands, where his teaching focused on the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), including fire safety, life-saving, and navigation related subjects. Mr. van der Voort is a certified fireman and commander. Before coming ashore in 2008, Mr. van der Voort spent 10 years at sea serving as a Deck Officer with a variety of companies, including Holland America Line. He rose to the position of Senior Second Officer before spending his final year at sea as a First Officer on board a passenger ferry in his native North Sea waters. He attended the Higher Maritime Academy “De Ruyter School,” in Vlissingen, the Netherlands where he obtained his Officer of the Watch and Master All Ships licenses.
